Local historian Bill Nicks will be performing a re-enactment of Wilbur Wright.
Wilbur Wright, along with his brother Orville, achieved international fame by designing, building, and flying the first airplane. Listen to Wilbur as he shares his life’s remarkable adventure.
Hear about the Wrights' quest from when they first reached out to the Smithsonian Institute for advice in May 1899, until they flew in December 1903. Learn why they used Kitty Hawk for their experiments and how they stumbled onto the wing-warping innovation that was key to controlling the flyer. Also hear how their sister, Catherine, helped them overcome discouragement and kept them from quitting. Learn about their connection to the Kansas City area.
This program is for all ages, but geared to adults.
